My introduction to computer games as a 5 year old

Written for the Story of the Week: The first computer game you ever played

If you don't count a Speak & Spell I didn't know how to use, the first computer game I ever played was Gold Hunt 1.1. I was in kindergarten at the time and living with my dad in Waco, Texas while he went to college. I'd sit next to him while he connected to bulletin board systems, and the first game I ever saw from there was Gold Hunt. Before then, I had never even seen a computer. As a first experience, it was exciting to move the character around with the arrow keys while grabbing gold and avoiding the devil. We'd play it together, and eventually managed to trap the devil and win the first level. My dad was never really into computer games, so this was one of the rare bonding experiences we had involving one.
