Dead ends won't stop me!

Written for the Story of the Week: The first game you ever finished

I mentioned this game in my story about the first games I ever played, but the first game I ever finished was King's Quest II: Romancing the Throne (PCjr). It took me quite a while to accomplish this goal, and I did have the help of my older sister. I couldn't figure out initially how to progress the story, so I spent a crazy amount of time just wandering around trying to figure out what to do. I'll never forget playing this experience, as it was the first time I encountered one of the famous Sierra On-Line dead ends. The Sierra On-Line adventure games were my favorite PC games growing up, and I even played through the Leisure Suit Larry games! Yes, it's pretty obvious that my parents didn't supervise my time on the computer.

Having a King's Quest title as your first completed game is just insane to me. As kids, my brother and I spent hours at friends' houses trying to solve several Sierra games via trial and error, and we never managed it back then. Hats off to you for getting through this one! :)

Playing Sierra quest games was a shared experience with my neighborhood friends as well. I remember when I was playing Police Quest with my friend at his house and it was time for me to go home. We were on the police department's computer and I typed "quit" to exit the computer. My friend's dad thought I was quitting the game and he panicked because they were planning to continue playing after I left. :)
